SAN DIEGO, August 10, 2016
– The San Diego office of eMoney Advisor (eMoney), an industry-leading wealth management platform for financial advisors and their clients, has been named one of the “Best Places to Work in San Diego” by the San Diego Business Journal. Located in the beautiful San Diego neighborhood of La Jolla, the office is currently home to 65 employees who support various departments at eMoney, including sales, client engagement, training and financial planning.

“We’re honored and excited to receive this award, which celebrates our San Diego employees. We do all we can to ensure they’re positioned for success,” said Ed O’Brien, CEO of eMoney Advisor. “At eMoney, we’re committed to upholding a positive company culture that allows for both collaboration and individual growth and fosters creativity and innovation. We believe this adds tremendous value as our employees work together to advance our cutting-edge financial technology and superior wealth management planning tools and to provide superb client service.”

To propel career advancement, learning and development opportunities occur in various way in the San Diego office. New employees are often paired with a mentor for training, while other employees take an active role in getting the new hire settled in and adjusted to eMoney.

“Everyone is very welcoming here,” said Hannah Pou, an internal training specialist in the San Diego office. “Having worked here for five years, it’s inspiring to see the sense of community that exists and is extended to new employees. We root for one another, always have each other’s backs and celebrate success together. And we know how to have fun and relax too when then time is right,” she said.

To manage stress and build camaraderie, Pou said employees regularly practice on-site yoga, coordinate picnics and bonfires, play kick ball and attend happy hour together. Particularly unique to the San Diego office space is a “Zen Den,” where staff can relax in beanbag chairs and peruse books on professional growth and maintaining good health. Other building amenities include a pool, Jacuzzi and ping pong table to enjoy during lunchbreaks or after work.

“Giving back to the community makes up a large part of eMoney’s culture as well,” Pou said. “We take regular visits to a local veterans’ hospital, collect donations for food banks and volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club of Temecula. We also participate in the annual 9/11 Heroes Run for the Travis Manion Foundation,” she said.

Special events like the “Guac Off” in which employees compete to make the tastiest version of the Southern California staple are also a hit for the team in San Diego. And despite being located on the West Coast, Pou stated that the distance doesn’t affect their connection to employees at eMoney’s headquarters in Radnor, Pa.

“Even though we’re across the country, we’re still interacting with our colleagues in Radnor almost daily,” she said. “Thanks to transparency and communication, we’re more empowered than ever to contribute to eMoney’s success.”

In addition to the incentives listed above, eMoney offers a comprehensive benefits package, which includes a robust health package (including a no-premium medical plan), free life and disability insurance, a matched retirement plan, generous paid time off, tuition reimbursement and competitive, pay-for-performance compensation with an annual bonus available to all non-commissioned employees. Employees can also take advantage of monthly wellness offerings, discounted pet insurance and a rich lineup of supplemental insurance to help plan for the unexpected.

eMoney and the winning San Diego-based companies were selected through a two-part survey process. The first section measured workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics, and the second assessed employee experience. The 100 companies from the area that made the list will be honored at an awards ceremony on August 11. A special issue of the San Diego Business Journal that profiles the companies selected as the “Best Places to Work in San Diego” will be published on August 22.
