Learn MoreWe’ve been big fans of Gary for quite some time now. He’s brash, he’s overconfident, he’s raw – and he’s the man.
For a quick background, Gary Vaynerchuk is the quintessential Silicon Valley dude. He sports a hoodie with the sleeves rolled up, is perpetually unshaven, and makes liberal use of hip young phrases such as “humble brag,” and “I literally just,” all while spouting off insanely detailed knowledge of the technology industry and traditional business methodology. At times an egregious name-dropper (he calls Mark Zuckerburg, ‘Zucks’), he’s famous for being one of the original entrepreneurs, and later angel investor to the likes of Facebook and Twitter, in the modern tech industry.
During his speeches he spouts Boiler-Roomesque musings laced with enough profanity to make a professional hockey player blush. Yet despite his youthfully debased language, his advice is altogether smart and genuine. After all, it’s hard to struggle with the beautiful simplicity of, “Ideas are shit, execution is game.” Or with his notion that “The ability to adjust is key to the game.”
In the vein of George Orwell’s maxim to embrace hard truths, he enjoins us to be “self-aware,” so that we can embrace our strengths and push aside our weaknesses. But whether or not you embrace this advice, one thing is certain. After watching him for just one minute you become quite aware that he’s definitely someone you should be excited to see.
