In many ways, connections are the lifeblood of any plan entered into eMoney. And to help keep your connections updated and active, we’re happy to share three quick tips you can follow to make the entire process of adding and maintaining connections as easy as possible.

1. Add advisor-managed accounts first

Having client accounts update live is one of the best ways to demonstrate the value of your business’ use of eMoney to your clients. And while we give your clients the ability to connect these accounts from the client site, it’s a good idea to add as many of their accounts as you can from the advisor side first. Why? Because you want your clients to feel like they’re finishing the job rather than doing the entire job.

Having your advisor-managed accounts updating live on the client site will motivate your clients to connect their personal accounts and give you the most accurate account values for your plans possible. And speaking of having your clients add connections…

2. Show your clients how to add connections from the client site

It seems like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how many advisors leave this process entirely up to their clients. Because of how easy adding connections from the client site can be, many advisors feel that they can point their clients in the right direction and leave them to it. But we’ve found that clients are far more likely to add connections on their own if their advisors have educated them on the process. By taking the time to show your clients how to add connections, both you and your clients will reap the benefits of having up-to-date account values loaded into the system.tip

3. Submit those tickets

While our client support representatives are always happy to talk to you, picking up the phone to give them a call shouldn’t be your first move if there’s an issue with a connection. Your best bet would be submitting a ticket through the “Report a Problem” link on the connection page. You’ll find this link in the “Actions” box at the bottom left of the page:

By submitting a ticket, you’ll open a direct line of communication with eMoney’s Data Services team. They’re our resident connection experts and will be able to help you with all your connection issues directly without even needing to pick up aphone!
